Adaptive Audio

Adaptive Audio is the name we give StaffPad's custom audio tempo and pitch stretch algorithms. StaffPad is able to change the speed of audio in high quality, without changing the pitch, and vice versa.

This can be really useful if you've recorded or used audio in your score, and then need to change the key or tempo afterwards. Or, if you want to use loops or sounds that were created in a different key or tempo.

Adaptive Audio can be toggled on or off on a per-staff basis, by tapping the staff name and toggling the Adaptive Audio switch.

Adaptive Audio only works if StaffPad knows the original key and tempo of the audio file. You can teach StaffPad what the original key and tempo is for a clip by long-pressing on a clip and choosing "Set Clip Tempo" or "Set Clip Tuning". StaffPad will take the tempo and key from that point in the score, and write it into the file for use later. So, if you import a file at 50bpm, make sure you set your score to 50bpm, then long press and choose "Set Clip Tempo". Once that's done, you can set the score to any tempo you like, and the audio will follow.
