Using Audio in your score

StaffPad makes it easy and seamless to work with and record audio files alongside your notated score. This can be incredibly useful in a number of scenarios, for example:

  • Writing an arrangement around a vocal performance
  • Transcribing an existing song
  • Recording real instruments into your score playback
  • Recording ideas quickly
  • Using loops and sound effects in your score
  • Working to dialogue or picture soundtracks
  • Writing additional music on top of an existing backing track
  • Building a full production, ready for release

StaffPad gives you some powerful editing tools to work with audio, as well as a library of royalty free loops, sound effects and phrases - which we call "Elements". Audio can be pitch and time shifted freely, or adapted automatically to your score's tempo and key. There's advanced DSP effects you can use to add polish and production shine to your score.

Any audio you add into your score is conformed to a consistent standard, and stored within the StaffPad file itself. You don't need to worry about formats, sample rates, channel configurations or anything else whilst working with audio in StaffPad and, since the audio is stored in the file, you don't need to worry about archives or including lots of audio that might be scattered about your device... it's all stored in one, neat, tidy StaffPad score file which can be easily shared with others.
