Clefs
When you first add an instrument to your score, StaffPad assigns it the most common clef for the instrument.
To change a clef at the beginning of a bar, long-press anywhere in the bar, and choose Change Clef.
Select the clef from the choices that appear:
As shown above, StaffPad supports all the usual clefs: treble, bass, alto, tenor, percussion, octave treble (above), octave treble (below), octave bass (above), and octave bass (below).
It also supports some of the less common clefs, such as baritone, mezzo-soprano, soprano, and French violin (get out your history books):
To change the clef of an instrument at the beginning of the score, long-press in the first bar of the score. StaffPad will re-notate the music on the appropriate staff and leger lines.
To delete a clef, long-press in the bar, choose Change Clef and choose the clef that prevailed prior to the current one.
StaffPad does not currently support "redundant" clefs; in other words, if you try and add a treble clef and the staff is already set to a treble clef, no change will be observed.
Barlines
By default, all barlines in StaffPad are single barlines. To change any barline to something else, long-press on a barline and choose Change Barline:
- Single barlines are the default option.
- Double barline; useful for demarcating sections. SatffPad places these automatically when you change the Key signature.
- Repeat Start; Repeat End; Repeat Start/End for repeated sections. These must be placed before placing Repeat endings in your score.
- Final barlines are truly final — if any music exists after the final barline, it will be deleted. Therefore, it is not possible to have more than one final barline in a score.
