StaffPad automatically formats notation for standard drum kit, if the Drum Kit instrument is selected.
Simply write the notation as regular notes, and StaffPad will convert it to the appropriate notehead as needed upon exiting the bar.
It plays back correctly, of course, and also exports as a General MIDI drum track for easier conversion to DAWs.
For drum kits, the X note head style is automatically assigned for hi-hats, and cymbals. You can also use the X note head style to switch between a snare hit and a cross-stick or side stick hit on the snare drum.
Ghost notes can be written using the parentheses note head style. Notes in parentheses will play back much softer than regular notes, and can be useful to add feeling into the drum part.
