Articulations are recognized if they are drawn on the notehead side; that is, above the note for downstem notes and below the note for upstem notes.
Staccato: Draw a tiny dot by lightly tapping above or below the note. As is the case with augmentation dots, staccatos may be difficult to see until StaffPad recognizes them, but rest assured they’re present.
Tenuto: A horizontal mark above or below the note. It should be as wide as the notehead.
Marcato: A ^ mark above or a V mark below the note. Use a single, precise stroke.
Accent: A > shape above or below the note. It should be as wide as the notehead.
Staccatissimo: A single vertical line above or below the note, about the width of a space.
You can stack articulations by simply drawing any or all of the above articulations, with one exception: if you already have a staccato and draw a staccatissimo, the staccato will be replaced. The reverse is also true.
